Title: Surviving SEFA and Single Audit 

Description
This session will explain how to prepare, read, and interpret the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA). The SEFA is a component of the Single Audit and is generally presented in the long form audit. Despite frequent references to the Single Audit, there remains uncertainty regarding the preparation and interpretation of the SEFA. For instance, questions often arise about whether or not federal funds received through pass-through entities should be included on the SEFA. Grant managers use the SEFA and the Single Audit for the subrecipient risk assessment process to evaluate stewardship of potential federal funding. This document details the amounts spent by an organization, organized by CFDA number and active specific contract for the audit period or fiscal year. There is sometimes confusion between the total award amounts and the expenditures reported on the SEFA. The session aims to clarify the purpose and importance of this often-overlooked report.

To be awarded the CPE credit, participants must respond to all three of the polling questions during the presentation and pass the final exam with 80% accuracy.
